Due to the extremely delicate nature of final pieces, and my meager grad student means with limited time/money for distance traveling I'm
*Only currently accepting commissions from my local & surrounding area of Indianapolis*
On limited and non-pressing occasions there maybe chance to work with those from the Bloomington, St. Louis, Columbus, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Louisville areas.
If you are out of town and still interested, send me a message! Always worth asking!
*All Materials given will be subjected to COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION!*
This is a method of keepsak-ing, yes, but the essence of impermanence is at the core of C[r]P.
A Consent to Transform document will be required for all owner(s) of materials to read and sign, displaying all parties understand the process of destruction and rebirth which is to take place. Extended options for the documentation of given items could be made possible.
*Art is a Process of Intuition*
Through the eyes of the commissioner, I know there is a certain amount of vision and creative control you may hope to have within your peice, but at its roots C[r]P is a spiritual and therapeutic practice. This type of commission calls for a willingness to stay open and out of control. As an artist, I work in the abstract and my most authentic work is done when detached for outcome and tapping into the creative spirit where pressure, order, and structure are of a different realm. If you have a particular style and/or colors that significantly compels you, I am willing to stay open to this also, but for the artist and commissioner, the practice of C[r]P is within trust and relinquishing; sacrificing the acclaimed precious, releasing the said negative, and forgoing artistic demands so to produce something directed by a larger impulse. *Take comfort, I only seek to please you and will only allow you to take home a piece which you are completely satisfied with! Promise stands: Until you feel peace, I will continue working on your piece!*
*C[r]P takes Time and Emotional Energy (from your side and mine)*
Thinking up, finding words to, and writing out thoughts, hopes, dreams, fears, etc takes time! The piece you hope for may not even include your written meditations, if you so choose, but even if [re]purposing your sentimental-throw-aways is the aim, I might ask you to think of and/or write out/talk through what your items meant to you, who or what time in your life they remind you of (why those are of significance), and why you are willing to [re]create your belongs in the first place. Emotionally heavy stuff, potentially! If you are ready for it, I am here for you!
The process of transformation will take time and energy out of me as well. Praying over your items, tuning in towards intuition, and praying out the emotions on the salvaged canvas, I want to treat each piece with the time and attention it asks for. Deadlines possible, but a loose time frame is often best.
*Price Point flexibilities*
Considering that persons' items and the amount of items, and the amount of emotion attached to them will vary, prices for commission will vary too. Feel free to let me know about what price range you are hoping to work with, the items you are hoping to work with, and their approximate amount, and during one-on-one consultations, I will let you know the price range which seems fair and feasible for the time and personal energy.
*Donations not tax deductible at this time (that I know of)!*
Any old art supplies that you are not using or financial support you are hoping to give towards projects are appreciated more than you can understand, but just toeing into the business world and knowing for sure that I am not a non-profit, the chance that your generosity being rewarded by the government seem unlikely at this time. Further research will be done!
*Don't let the Language be a hangup!*
There is a lot of talk on here about "prayer" and "spirit" and"spiritual" and even a couple "God" phrases which, I understand, are terminologies that hold a lot of power for people -- positive and negative. Please understand, the words used are meant to be expressed with the most open, honoring, and inclusive of intentions. Religious (of any variation), non-religious, anti-religion, spiritual, anti-all beliefs, only for one belief system; we are all human and all share thoughts, hopes, goals, sorrows, joy, inquisition, and a myriad of experiences and deep emotions. Whatever language you choose to talk about that more in depth and to the ground human/existential experience of engaging yourself and others, please translate my wording as such.
